Women Environment Group

Image
Women Environment group is a non profit, non political and non governmental organization that is working in the field of environment conservation to minimize the atmospheric pollution by involving local people especially women for creating a clean and pollution free environment. The president of the organization is Mrs. Anju Shah Singh who established Nature's Boon's 20 years ago and has been working to collect and segregate solid waste in Kathmandu valley.  It was very pleasing to see women's involved  in creating different crafts out of chau chau and chocolate rappers and selling them at very high cost. When we learn to see value in the waste, it would definitely reduce waste.                 This is a tea mat made out of rappers, one of the example of various craft made by WEG.

Climate Change: is it?

From early days of my B.Sc I have been the acquiring the knowledge for climate change as a cause of all the existing problems such as water crisis, land degradation and so on. It might be one of the factor which has substandard the scenario but not the root cause of all the existing environmental problems. Climate change is a change in the statistical distribution of whether  patterns over periods ranging from decades to years. In context of Nepal the change in the natural system from a decade is more due to human activities such as concrete land, urbanization, over extraction of water, no proper management of natural resource, change in nutrients content in soil etc, which has imbalanced our natural system. Lack of water discharge in the rivers in Kathmandu is probably due to the watershed degradation which has resulted water table to move its position.  We use resources but inadvertently neglect to conserve these resources . Climate change may be one of the accelerating f
