Climate Change and negotiations

Climate change is a complex term to understand. Some understand it as a critical issues and situation while some of them ignore it saying a natural process. What do you think it is? Should we seriously act on it?

Our Home: Earth has been experiencing drastic changes in its biosphere. According to NASA, within 64 years from 1950 to 2014 the carbon dioxide level (ppm) has increased from about 320 to around 400 ppm, the change had never been above 300 ppm in 650000 years. How many years will life survive when carbon dioxide rate is increasing rapidly in atmosphere? What will our coming generation face our home as?

According to scientist, In last century the global sea level rose about 6.7 inches while the rate of increase is nearly double in decades  that of last century.

The Himalayas are seen without snow caps, the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheet have decreased in mass about 150 to 250 cubic km of ice per year (NASA).  Will our home be a water world in future?

It's not that countries have been experiencing and have not made any efforts in mitigation, adaptation to climate change.  The efforts made since Kyoto protocol agreement for progress on climate mitigation, adaptation technology and finances which expired in 2012. In 2011 Durban talk extended it to 2017.

In 2009, Copenhagen climate talk which was meant to be legally binding , global deal  to replace the Kyoto Protocol  that resulted in political agreement which set the deadline to review existing agreement by end of 2015.

In 2012, most high profile talk was agreed to look into the issue of compensating countries for loss and damage caused by climate change.

In 2014, Lima summit was a crucial moment to reach a climate agreement in 2015. Under the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), countries across the globe committed to create climate agreement by the conclusion of the Paris Climate Summit in December 2015.

Paris climate summit, all countries are determining what effort they will make to reduce emissions and address climate change. But are these efforts worth taking action to mitigate Climate Change effects.
The big question is what difference these negotiations are bringing out with very less action. GHG emissions are still going up and warming the world further, that climate change is impacting farm output here and now, making storms, floods and droughts more severe and more frequent, raising the sea level and melting glaciers faster.

Again same question arises what do you think it is? Should we seriously act on it? How many years will life survive when carbon dioxide rate is increasing rapidly in atmosphere? What will our coming generation face our home as? Will our home be a water world in future?
