Meet Krishna Hengaju, A Young Environmentalist from Nepal

As a young environmentalist who grew up in city of opulent cultural heritage, Bhaktapur, Krishna Hengaju is concerned about environmental conservation. He pursued his Masters in Environmental Science and Management. Besides his involvement in Climate Change issues in Nepal, he likes traveling, taking pictures and conducting research based on Climate Change and wildlife issues. Nepal shaping its Intended Nationally Determined

Climate change is a complex term to understand. Some realize it as a critical issue and situation while others ignore it citing it a natural process.The Earth has been experiencing drastic changes in its biosphere. According to NASA, within 64 years (from 1950 to 2014), the carbon dioxide level (ppm) has increased from about ppm to around ppm.The change had never been above ppm in 650,000 years. According to scientists, in last century, the global sea level rose about 6.7 inches while the rate of increase has nearly doubled in the past few decades alone. The climate change is melting snow caps in Himalayas while the Greenland and Antarctic ice-sheet have decreased in mass—about 150 to 250 cubic km of ice per year, according to NASA. Khaptad lies in an elevated plateau that consists of grassland or meadows which is called Patan in Nepali between the sub alpine landscapes. Khaptad National park is located at far western region of Nepal and spread over fours district – Doti, Bajhang, Bajura & Acham. In fact the boundaries of the four districts meet at a point in Khaptad.   It is 225 sq.km with highest point at 3212 m. The Khaptad national park is named after Khaptad Baba. It has always been amazing travelling new places especially high hills and mountains. I always get thought of getting back to same place again in lifetime.
