Climate Change: is it?
From early days of my
B.Sc I have been the acquiring the knowledge
for climate change as a cause of all the existing problems such as water
crisis, land degradation and so on. It might be one of the factor which has
substandard the scenario but not the root cause of all the existing
environmental problems.
Climate
change is a change in the statistical distribution of whether patterns over periods ranging
from decades to years. In context of Nepal the change in the natural system
from a decade is more due to human activities such as concrete land,
urbanization, over extraction of water, no proper management of natural
resource, change in nutrients content in soil etc, which has imbalanced our
natural system. Lack of water discharge in the rivers in Kathmandu is probably
due to the watershed degradation which has resulted water table to move its
position. We use resources but inadvertently
neglect to conserve these resources. Climate change may be one of the accelerating
factors for existing problems but not the major factor.
